Abstract

【課題】板ガラス成形装置の成形能力を高め、安定した板厚成形寸法品位を長期間維持できる板ガラス成形装置及び板ガラス成形装置を使用する板ガラスの成形方法を提供する。 【解決手段】上部が開口した樋形状の溶融ガラス供給溝10aを頂部に有し、このガラス供給溝の両側壁頂部をオーバーフローの堰とし、かつ両側壁の外面部を断面が略楔形となるように両側壁の外面同士を下方に向けて相互に接近させて下端10dで終結させた成形体を備え、溶融ガラスをガラス供給溝の一端から連続的に供給して両側壁頂部稜線10eからオーバーフローさせ、両側壁外面10cに沿って流下させて略楔形下端で合流させて板ガラスPを成形する板ガラスの成形装置で、成形体が下方から少なくとも2以上の支持部材30により当接支持され、長尺方向の支持部材間の最短寸法が、熔融ガラスをオーバーフローさせる両側壁頂部稜線10eの長さ寸法より短いことを特徴とする。 【選択図】図1
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plate-glass formation apparatus capable of improving the formation capacity and maintaining a stable dimensional quality in terms of the thickness of the formed plate glass, and a method for forming a plate glass using the plate-glass formation apparatus. SOLUTION: The formation apparatus for plate glass is equipped with a shaped body having a trough-shaped molten glass supply trough 10a with an upper opening at the top, where the tops of both side walls of the molten glass supply trough function as overflow dams and the outer parts of both side walls are approached each other downward to form a nearly wedge-shaped section ending at the lower end 10d. Molten glass is continuously supplied from the one end of the glass supply trough, overflows from the ridgelines 10e of the tops of both side walls, flows down along the outer parts 10c of both side walls, and merges at the wedge-shape lower end to form a plate glass P. The shaped body is supported from the underside by two or more support members 30 and the shortest length between the support members along the longitudinal direction is shorter than the length of the ridgelines 10e of the tops of both side walls where molten glass overflows.
